The Reporter is responsible for the maintenance of all records pertaining to the judges’ assignments. These records are monitored through the Pennsylvania Appellate Court Management (PACMS) system. The Reporter provides the judges with status reports involving assignments, votes and filings for argued, submitted and en banc cases, as well as providing monthly and yearly statistical reports.
The Reporter assigns a universal citation to published opinions prior to filing. The filed opinions are posted daily to the Superior Court and the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts websites. These opinions are also electronically transmitted to Lexis, Westlaw and The Legal Intelligencer.
The Reporter is the liaison with Thomson West, the official publisher of the Court’s opinions. The Reporter provides Thomson West with filed opinions, tables of memorandum decisions, whose text is not published in the West Reporter but is made available on Westlaw. These tables of identifying cases with pending reargument applications, and any revisions, are made available prior to final publication.
The Reporter also sends transcripts of ceremonial sessions of the Superior Court, to Thomson West, for publication.
